The Benefits of Carvacrol and Oregano Oil

Eczema Can Be Healed With Oregano Oil

Eczema is a skin condition whereby the skin becomes inflamed, reddish in color, dry and itchy. There are many skin conditions that can be diagnosed as eczema.

These include atopic dermatitis, nummular dermatitis, hand dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis, of which dandruff is a mild form. Some of the most common types of eczema are diaper rash and the type of rash that appears after coming into contact with poison ivy. The skin irritation may be mild, but in some cases the eczema covers the entire body, with the skin being very itchy, cracked and painful.

People Who Are At Risk of Getting Eczema
It is wrong to think that only children are affected by this skin condition. Anyone at any age is at risk of getting this disease. People who have a family history of eczema, hay fever and asthma are considered prone to eczema. Both males and females are equally affected. For babies between the ages of 2 to 4 months the inflammation of the skin is accompanied with oozing and crusting. With children over 2 years old, the rash is usually dry and scaly.

Typical Causes of Eczema
Contact dermatitis, a type of eczema, is caused by repeated exposure to mild irritants such as detergents. It can also result after a brief exposure to strong irritants like battery acid. Allergic contact dermatitis is caused by skin contact with allergens. These allergens include nickel and poison ivy. Many common products have nickel content, such as eyeglass frames, jewelry, buttons and coins. The causes of atopic dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis are believed to be the combination of many factors, such as certain inherited genes, stress, yeast, climate, having an over active immune system and poor health.

Symptoms
For most people, the first symptom of eczema is intense itching. This symptom can occur as a brief reaction and can last for a few hours or even days. But in some cases, the symptom persists for a longer period of time, thereby causing the skin to dry and become reddish. This may cause blisters and oozing lesions in the affected skin area. The areas of the skin typically affected by eczema are the neck, face, inside of the elbows, ankles and knees. In babies and small children, it will show up on their scalps, foreheads, cheeks, neck, forearms and legs.

Usual Treatment for Eczema
The objective of treatment is to reduce the itching, inflammation and worsening of the skin condition. The typical treatment given to the patient is a combination of oral and topical medications, while always considering the age of the patient, his health condition, and severity of the disease. Creams and ointments are applied to the affected area to keep it hydrated. In some cases, administration of oral corticosteroids are prescribed to control the acute outbreak of eczema. But this is not overdone because of the harmful side-effects.

It should be noted that all of these typical treatments involve the use of pharmaceutical drugs and antibiotics which are commonly known to produce adverse side effects. In this regard, there is a much better way of treating eczema. This is by using oregano oil, a 100% organic substance, found to be a powerful antimicrobial agent with no known side effects.

Nature of Oregano Oil
Oil of oregano is derived from the Mediterranean wild oregano plant Origanum vulgare. This plant has a very long history of medicinal uses. It was been used by the ancient Greeks for treating all kinds of illnesses, including colds, fever, skin and digestive problems. Instead of the plant, the essential oil extracted from its leaves is now used.

Hundreds of laboratory tests and experiments have confirmed the antimicrobial properties of oregano oil. It can effectively stop the growth of all types of pathogen such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi. Many scientists have found that it can kill candida, a fungus that is believed to worsen the condition of eczema.

Power of Oregano Oil
The germ killing ability of this oil lies in its powerful chemical compounds. Oregano oil contains flavonoids, phytochemicals and phenols that can kill all types of harmful microbes. Carvacrol and thymol are the two main active agents.

Aside from that, this essential oil also contains significant amounts of minerals, vitamins and trace elements that will help strengthen the body’s immune response to many types of disease. This oil has been found to kill the most drug resistant bacteria, MRSA. It is also used to control the growth of cancer cells, parasites and other destructive microbes.

Using Oregano Oil for Treating Eczema
If you follow these guidelines, you will be able to control eczema.

• Mix 2 drops of oregano oil with 5 ml of virgin olive oil. Rub this mixture in the affected skin area twice a day. If you experience irritation of the skin, discontinue this procedure and proceed to the next step.
• Take 2 to 4 drops of oregano oil every day. You can put these drops under your tongue or mix them with a glass of water or your favorite juice.

It will be more effective if you can follow both the topical and internal treatment because this will facilitate your healing.
